Rear Springs - Spacers

So I keep going back & forth on this one - the spacers that go between the front of the rear springs and the underside of the car - are they worth reinstalling or not?

1. Pro - ride height will be right (and reconstructed the way it ought to be)- remember I've de-arched the springs 1 inch to compensate for no longer having rubber bumpers.

2. Con - seems like and mud & dirt (and rust) magnet

thoughts?

I'd leave them out.
They change the rear ride height less than 1/2" and have almost no affect on the front ride height.

But if you drop the <u>front end</u> too much....say, more than about 2" (or 50 mm for you metric types), you should consider modifying the car for corrected "bump steer" and caster.

If you're not dropping the car too much, don't worry about it.

I lowered my front end by about 7/8 to 1" and experience some bump steer. Does anyone sell an offset kit to correct this?

Pat, probably the easiest way to adjust it is to space the rack mounts higher. It'll take some trial and error, but will help.

Please suggest, I was thinking about putting him on on blocks and seeing what the geometry looks like.

Pat, if you look at this website,

and read the tech tip on how to check bumpsteer, you should be able to figure out a way to fabricate a cheaper alternative to buying one.

I'm lucky in that I have one of their setups.

Tom Colby at Speedwell also has this setup. Not cheap, but works well on the racer. Probably not good for the street, though.

Tom had helped with rear setup - maybe when the weather gets nicer, I sort a few more things out and the heating bills are over with, I will give him a call.
