Rear splined hubs AH3000

Anybody know what the differences are (if any) other than the TPI between the earlier and later rear hubs for wire wheels. Moss motors lists 31-365 and 31-290 for models pre car number 26705 and part numbers 664-010 and 664-000 for cars 26706 and newer. Are the dimensions the same (diameter, extent ion, PCD etc)?

Also, why is there a difference in the knock off thread count on splined wire wheel hubs/spinners (8 and 11 TPI) ? Is one safer than another?

Thank you

YEP:

There are TPI differences in the older and newer car models. So be sure you order the correct ones for your car.

11 thread to the end of 100/6s, 3000's have the 8. No difference otherwise. I have had to use a 11 thread on a BJ8 until I found a good 8 thread for it. My guess is the 8 thread came about because Triumph and MG were already using the 8 thread ( plus cheaper to make).

Thanks for the info. If no difference other that the thread count, I'll get myself a pair of the 8 TPI since I have 3000 rearend and they will be the same as my front hubs (and therefore won't be able to mess up the treads by tring to put the wrong spinners on the wrong wheels in a few years when I forgot what I did ;-) )

Originally, the later, 8 tpi, hubs were stronger than the 11 tpi hubs. The hubs on the rally cars kept breaking. I think replacement hubs are the same wall thickness either way. What ever you have, you want the same on all four wheels.
