Decided to finally take the rear bumper off in my challange to make this car passible again. ICK. The inside of the bumper is pretty much rotted away.

Has anyone had one that looks like this and welded panels in it or is it a goner? I will look around for a used one, but the couple I saw at my mechanic's today were just as bad.
Repairable or garbage?
And
How does the rubber outside come off?

Paul

If you weren't so far away, I've got several good ones for sale...but shipping would be a bitc...oops...bear!

The rubber appears to be riveted on - on mine. It's actually a form of plastic, but, I'd look around and find one if I were you that has good metal... The plastic/rubber can be filled and painted black.

He could pick it up on his way to MG2006...

800 miles would be a long way to drive with a bumper on Mary's lap.

Wouldn't it?

It would kind of defeat my idea of keeping this origional being a RB GT, but I DO like the sleeker look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif But I would wonder if it would be street legal up here without a bumper, and insurance wise. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Looks aside, I've just always been bothered by the incredible weight of those rubber bumpers, and that weight is in one of the worst possible places - at the extreme ends of the vehicle! If you like the RB look then I would look into Tom Rynne's bumpers as Tony pointed out.

Got an idea: Toss the rubber bumper and go with a better looking chrome bumper look...
Ooohpps, did I say that?

Newkie

P.S. See how I just throw my neck out there? I can take it.
