I have a pretty bad rear main leak in my 74 mgb gt
my question is can this be changed from under car or do you have to split engine and tranny. In other cars I have worked on you can loosen main bearing cap and rotate in new seal. Any and all comments welcome

The easiest thing to do would be to pull the engine to change the seal. You can pull the Transmission out by itself, but its a much more difficult job than just pulling the engine by itself.
