Rear license plate bracket

I have a 61 BN7 and have been trying to find the correct way to install the rear License plate bracket. The car currently has a BJ8 bracket on the bumper which is incorrect for my year car. The plate light goes on a bracket, moss part number 806-355, in side the bumper facing the car. It looks like the license plate bracket, moss part number 806-360, is attached to the body of the car. It has two studs but I don't have any corresponding holes in the rear shroud. I have not been able to find any info on the correct installation of the rear license plate bracket
This is my first post, I'd appreciate any help avaliable

Yes the backet bolts directly to the rear shroud. The only problem I've had with this arrangement is that license plate tends to scrape when you go up an inclined drive way. I've been thinking about making a hinged bracket which will fold back when going up an incline.

Udo Putzke has a hinged bracket but it swings back and forth when he drives - double-plus uncool. IMO that is a good thing but you need a mousetrap spring to hold it against a stop so that it only moves when you hit the plate on an object.

I built one from aluminum angle and steel shelf brackets which mounts on the bumper in a similar position with the plate angled forward:

There will be the two holes for the bolts and they can be seen relative to the hole for the light wiring.

Thanks Guys, you have confirmed my suspicions that the bracket must attach directly to the shroud. Looking at the picture from Jedi T it shows the mounting holes below the wire pass thru hole for the licenses plate light wiring. What I need is the measurements relative to that hole. I presume the license plate is centered on the rear shroud. So how far below the wiring hole are the hoes for the bracket? My wire pass thru hole is 1 7/8" from the 90 deg edge break for the trunk opening to the top of the hole. If I could get a measurement from the bottom of the wire hole to the center line of the mounting holes and either the left or right of mounting hole from the inside edge of the bumper bracket hole, I believe I will be able to mount the license plate bracket correctly.

Rob, I'll participate more, I am the 3rd owner of my BN7. My Dad bought it from the original owner in the Canal Zone in 1968, and took it with him when he moved to San Antonio in 1972. He gave me the car in 1998 where it sat in my garage for 7 years. before I started the restoration. As you can see I am still sorting it back to as delivered to the dealer in LA some time after July 1960.

I also made my own. Started out with only the horizontal piece but ended up adding the vertical supports to protect the license plate from bending . . not that Healey's are low or anything
