Last night I got my car up in the air and realized I would need some parts to install my shorter stack leafs. First, I need to replaced the bolts that go through the leafs with shorter ones. Then the U-bolts that are through the body dont have enough threads, so I will need shorter bolts.

Can anyone tell me what size theads those parts are? My bugeye is my daily driver, so I will need to go get the parts before I tear it down.

1/2-13 for the u-bolt... I think, but why not just install a spacer of some sort?
 
At one time I thought I had read about just turning some of the leafs over in which case you would'nt need to change anything. Would that work???

Alright, I got it all together with the lower springs, and the car looks great. However, my kidneys are [censored] at me. So those springs are coming back out in favor of the stock ones. Now I need to figure out how to get it at the same ride height, which is building a wedge. Now, I am thinking about 1/4" wedge to lower the car about an inch??
Also, my stock springs are squeakier than heck. How do I take care of that? Just spray teflon lube all over/in them and hope it soaks in?

If anyone out there wants some nice, racey springs for smooth roads, let me know! They do handle great in the corners.
 
And on the same topic, should I replace the stock springs, assuming that they are 50 years old and shot, or blast and paint them, put in new bushings and call it good? My local Moss dealer is telling me I should replace them due to their age.

I assume you are using the heavy duty springs (the only new ones available). I have these on my frog & to soften & lower is simple. Take the top 3 springs & put them on the bottom. You can then use all the standard bolts & no extra cost. The ride is fantastic.
