Is there any place than can rebuild the rear hubs on m y Spitfire? (bearings making noise)? I've heard that its not an easy job and requires special tools?

The Roadster Factory rebuilds TR6, I'm sure they also do Spitfire.

British Miles in Morrisville PA.

I just got my rebuilt TR6 hubs from them a few weeks ago, they are fantastic. Ask for Tom, he owns the place. He doesn't rebuild them himself but he gets them from a friend of his in Florida I believe. You should be able to just exchange yours for a set of rebuilt ones. The charge is more obviously if your cores are not rebuildable.

The only task that's hard is removing the hub from the axle. It takes a special puller. Using a regular type puller will bend the hub flange. A machine shop I used years ago I ruined the first set. I found a guy in our sports car club that had a puller made at his place of business that worked perfectly. It was a little tough even with that puller.

You might want to contact Scott Howell at High Point Imports. He has done hubs for 6's for several on this site. I have been to his shop and saw a couple of spits there. He was very good to work with. Quick turn around on you shipment. Helped me out with a core when we discovered one axle stub had been shortened by DPO. His email is HPimports@webtv.com

I'll second the recommendation on Scotts work. He did the hubs on my TR6 a few years ago, came back looking like new with only a one week turn around, and definitely less expensive than TRF.
