TR4/4A Rear fender attachment: wing to lamp housing clip?

Hi all,

I installed one rear fender this weekend on my TR4A. I am using the TRF mounting kit, RFK160 - likely the same as carried by other vendors.

The kit includes four clips: 608522, “Clip, wing to lamp housing”.

Where and how do these clips get installed?

I assume They are installed after the tail lamp is attached to the tub… But it is not clear to me where a clip is needed??

Can you provide a picture of the clip? I have researched the clip and can not find any diagram as to its shape or where it goes. But it is listed in the parts manual. Just not shown in any pictures.

Them is the ones. Part 608522 as listed on the parts book.

This was not used here at all at any time. The factory used electrical tape around the wing/housing,going all
around to "seal" the wing and I presume sace the paint from chipping when the lamp was "affixed "

Hi Mike:
The clips in the picture in your hand appear to be upholstery clips. They look very similar to the ones used to hold the vinyl to the dash pad.

Yes, I think those are the upholstery clips, also used on the seats of a TR4A. Whatever the original use, you really don't need them for installing the feders or tail lights.

Thanks everyone for the replies; I’ve decided not to use them. Bottom line, I do not see the benefit in using the clips.

The spare parts catalog lists the clips as two different parts; see images below of the index and the page of center mounting parts.
