Rear ended pumpkin color

I have a question concerning the proper color of the rear end pumpkin. I see in some restorations that they are left in there natural
Aluminum cast finish. Is this a concours correct finish? Additionally the Armstrong shocks front and rear have this same finish. Is that the correct finish? Thanks for your responses in advance.

According to Anderson & Moment, the pumpkin should be painted black along with the axle housing, the front & rear Armstrong shock bodies are unpainted and the arms are black.

Rear ended pumpkins are generally the same color they were before rear ending.
Opinion.

Also bear in mind that the Anderson/Moment book is essentially a very outdated version of the Concours Guidelines available from the Concours Registry.

I bought the Concours Guidelines - Anderson Moment has a lot more pictures. Not that it's an option for anyone who didn't buy it when it was in print.
