For you Wedge Heads out there,i have a choice on my new TR8 to have it with a 3:45 or a 3:08. Which should I do. The car will be used a a Summer cruiser and to finally have a convertible to drive until the 6 is running.
What should I do??
 
I thought about changing from 3:08 to 3:45, but the 3:08 is much better for cruising and economy. You don't really need the extra guts on the low end, unless you're going to run it pretty hard.
 
Does the 3:08 have enough get up and go?
 
I went the other way, I had a 3.90 the DPO had installed in my 8 so he could race. Only he did not ask his wife who promptly sold the car to me while he was at work (I did not know until he came and his saw me loading the car, the look on his face said it all)

Any ways, I run 3000 RPM around 65-70 MPH with my 3.45. I really like the middle terroritory the gives me. I like the little extra umph since I occasionally auto cross. I would like to do it more next year.

I have the 3:08, and it's no problem at all starting off in second gear. Given your criteria for driving (cruising), I think you'll be happy with the 3:08.

And far as rear ends goes, I think you should try and find a 4.11 rear end and smoke your tires every chance you get. Right in front of your wife.
 
Please, he told me she sold his Harley the exact same way except he did not catch the new buy leaving. He just went to the garage one day to go for a ride and it was gone, came in to call the police and she told him she sold it three weeks prior.

Well she was hot and made 4 times his income, maybe that makes up for it

To each his own, I guess. I'd have her showing her hot *** to a divorce court judge ! Grounds of mental cruelty, and I want half her future earnings ... plus my Harley & TR8 back.

What good is a hot wife when you've been emasculated ?
