rear end chatter

When I let out the clutch there is a chatter or hopping at the rear end of the car. I am new to this car, what could this be. 57 MGA

Universals or u bolts or spring hangers.

I had the same problem in the midget, turned out the springs were worn enough and the rear of the driveshaft batted on the end of the tunnel.
Check the spring condition, and if you can get it lifted, check for any dents in the end of the tunnel.
