rear drum brake problem

hey team, thanks to all the tips i got here i enjoyed my first ride in the healey in almost a year!!
now the problem about halfway home when i put the brakes i started to get a great deal uf pushback from the pedal followed by a clunky noise from the drum.
any tips on what the proper ways are to take apart the rear drum would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Remove the wheel, remove the five (5) nuts holding on the splined adapter, (pray that you can) remove the Philips screws holding the drum onto the hub.

Probably, before the drum can be removed, you'll have to back off the adjuster (square headed stud sticking out from the backplate).

Say, you <span style="font-style: italic">do</span> have a workshop manual, don't you? I'd recommend casually flipping through the pages (a few times), and get familiar with all the components on the car. Most of the people here have these cars memorized, with a little time, so will you :wink:

randy again thank you for your help, your advice is sorely needed.
i do have a manual but this thing is from the 70's i definitely need to order one soon. my main fear is doing something wrong and rewening the car, so again the advice is comforting.
im assuming that when i open the rear drum the problem should be clear if i don't see anything visibly wrong with the brakes. i say that cuz of the noise coming from the drum must mean something REALLY wrong. ill post my findings...
may take a while before i do it. but theres a car show the 30th of january i wanna take the car too. again thank you so much

Nothing wrong with a manual from the '70s. Information is still good and not age related.

Before you start assuming the brake drum is bad jack up the rear and check the shock absorbers. They tend to come loose and make a noise similar to what you're experiencing.

yes i am, there is pushback in the pedal any tips on what to look for would be greatly appreciated...

Usually pedal push-back indicates a warped drum. Where it started mid way through your drive accompanied by a noise, I have to go with something coming loose in there. Pull the drum and see what falls out.
