TR6 Rear Brakes Shoe Repair and Install

Put new brakes shoes on vehicle, 1971 TR6, when I went tto install the drum, it won't work. Tried turning adjusting screw in and out. Still won't go over. Any ideas. I still haven't hooked up the brake line as of yet so there should be no pressure on the shoes. I've also tried pushing them around. Still the left shoe seems to be still too close to the outside of the backing plate. Even tried the old drum and it's the same. At a real loss as to what to do.

Happy new year Larry. Welcome to BCF.

There's always the possibility that the new shoes have different dimensions (and/or arc) from the old shoes.

Compare the old shoes with the new ones. Many times the new ones are actually longer (and wider?) than the old shoes; also may have a different arc (curve). Remove the new shoes, and see if they will fit smoothly into the drum.

Post some photos and measurements so we can see what you find.

Is the emergency brake cable connected? If so is it as loose as possible? Have you adjusted the wheel cylinders down as far as possible?
