Those extensions are used 90 degrees to the angle of the torque wrench handle. That nullifies their length and the torque is correct. If you use them at other angles, you must do math to correct the torque reading...so easiest to just use them at 90 degrees.
You did catch my comment that you should save the lock tabs until you have the correct shims? They are outside of the backing plate and do not affect the clearance.
