TR6 Reality of TR6 restoration?

Welcome !!
I had the desire to own a TR6 from my early driving days.
It wasn't until a TR6 buddy moved to Albuquerque that I realized the time was right to jump in. At that time I picked up a 75 in need of alot of help. My situation was rather different in buying a TR since I had other plans in mind (V8 conversion). That said, I did run it for several hundred miles stock after some minor drivetrain repairs.
I found the car to be rather reliable and EASY to repair.

NOTE: I would certainly recommend that a rust-bucket be avoided at all costs. That said, learning how to weld (MIG) light gauge will serve you well in doing body work.

I truly like the design of the car. The maintenance (non-conversion) has been very easy. The folks here have been invaluable in helping resolve any issues to keep the original portion of the car operational.

I would expect the value (and enjoyment) of a good TR to increase for the foreseeable future. Tinkering helps in the process.
Welcome aboard and please keep everyone abreast of your of progress!

Hi everyone, and thanks for all the input. I think I have pretty much decided to go for it, and I am just looking for the right car now. I think I will follow the excellent advice to avoid a rustbucket! I am hoping to find a car with a decent body and frame where most things work. A rolling restoration sounds like a much better plan to me than a full strip down to boxes - that way apart from the obvious advantage of being able to use the car sometimes, I will have something to sell if life happens during the process! Thanks again to everyone who offered their advice, and I will try to keep you all informed of any progress. Oh, and if anyone wants to sell me a car, or knows of the perfect car for sale, please let me know!
