Ready to Hang Some Parts

Wow, that looks really nice. Will be a treat to work in that engine bay. Never had one that clean myself.

I am hanging on parts on my B/E this evening. I know you are going with a red interior (sebring seats) but from your pictures I sense that something not 100% stock is going in that Bugeye . Fill us in on what mods will be going on that beautiful car?

Paul

Thanks everyone; Paul yes the car will have a few mods; Interior of car will have the red Sebring seats and panels, with matching red dash, with contrasting Wilton wool black carpet. Speedhut GPS speedometer and electric tachometer, with custom wiring harness by Autospark out of the UK that has a 5 relay setup for elect fuel pump, auxiliary cooling fan, head lights, horn, and wipers, fuse box will carry 6 fuses. Cooling will be a Serck single core aluminum radiator and a Earls 16 roll oil cooler.

Chassis has been engineered and stiffened for a much modified 1380 engine with a Datsun 5 speed transmission. Rear axle will utilize a 4:56 gear with a fully adjustable five link coil-over springs and rear adjustable sway bar. The front will have 400lb lowered springs with a 7/8 Speedwell adjustable sway bar. The car will also be equip with disc brakes at all four corners with 9” rotors and 4 piston aluminum front calipers.

Thanks...

Hey Hap, I’ve been meaning to stop buy to say hello, body work has consume every bit of time, I am tired of block sanding.

Will suggest the car be fitted with one step lower ratio differential than was used with the non-overdrive transmission. For example, it if previously used a 4.22:1 ratio, change to the 4.55:1 ratio. This allows use of the top three gears only on most race tracks. This is advantageous because these are the closest ratios in the Datsun transmission.
Column #1 under each transmission is the gear ratio. Column #2 under each is the percent RPM reduction upon upshift to that gear.

I know I lot of guys like 4.2 with the datsun five speeds and 1275. But I switched to 3.9 and it is great for street driving. The car will launch in second gear if desired ... but my car makes a good amount of low rpm torque. It is also good for tight autocrosses. With the 4.2 I was running out of second gear revs, but didn't need the speed of third.
