Re-torquing the head

Time to re-torque the head after the initial break-in of the engine. I had originally torqued the ARP head bolts to about 65lbs and wanted to go up to closer to 75 or 80. An old experience mechanic here told me to un-torque each bolt then re-torque to the new setting, each in sequence, leaving all the other bolts untouched as I go. Is this the correct way? Seems ARP suggested doing the same thing in their instruction sheet, which I cannot find. But I think it is on the web.
