Re-Keying the Boot Lock

My '66 BJ8 came with a key that operates only the ignition, another key that locks/unlocks both doors, and no key to lock/unlock the boot latch or glove box.
I would like to get the boot latch re-keyed so that one key operates both doors as well as the boot. I have removed the entire boot latch assembly but cannot seem to discover how to remove the lock barrel. It seems to be permanently attched to the latch assembly. The assembly looks like it is permanently staked to the square rod that turns the latch mechanism. There is no retaining pin, clip, screw or spring. There is no key code stamped on the square rod. Moss Motors shows the entire lock/latch mechanism as one part.
Is there a way to separate the lock barrel from the latch assembly so that it can be re-keyed? Or must I buy a complete new locking latch mechanism with its own key?
Thanks,
Dean

This might help. See the attached pictures of an assembled and exploded boot latch. You have to file away the 'pinches' circled in green and then the escutcheon and spring washers slide off of the lock shaft. Remove the pin circled in blue and the lock barrel can be removed. For reassembly, rather than try to re-pinch the square shaft, I pressed the cover on to compress the spring washers as it originally was and simply drilled a small hole in the square shaft and inserted a short roll pin.

Perfect! Thank you red57!

by the way, re-key of these locks is way different from you house door. NO pins, there are rectangular pieces of brass that have different size holes in them. If you rob some old locks, you can collect enough of these pieces of metal to re-key locks. Good luck finding a local locksmith that might have them.

Just a note of clarification- the ignition and door locks should be the same key as is the boot and glove box. Two keys.

If you search the Healey Forums you should find links to resources and instructions.

Peter.
