Re-keying locks

Ok, my GT6 didnt come with any keys, and I was told that none of the locks were going to match anyway, so I bought a new set from Spitbits where one key fits all. The doors are easy, as they replace the old ones. However the ignition and hatch lock cylinders much be removed. I cant figure out how to remove the old ones in order to install the new ones. Anyone have any ideas?

get an icepick. There is a hole in the side of the ignition lock. If you push the ice pick in there, you will feel a button that once depressed, will let the whole ignition lock come out the front. Replacement is reverse.

The trunk is a little harder, while I am not sure on the GT, there should be chiseled metal holding the lock from the shaft. Once the corners are filed down, you can start removing the lock mechanism.

Now, I know that this explaination is not sufficient, but it is hard to describe how to do it. It may be easier to send the locks to Pete Groh who will re-key them for you.

On the earlier ignition switches, you have to turn it to the 'on' position first, and then insert a pin punch or similar through a hole in the body to depress a pin inside (similar to the way the dash knobs work). Then you pull the cylinder out, using the key as a handle.

With no key available (and the switch presumably 'off'), you will need to 'pick' the lock, which is actually pretty easy. You can Google for details (and videos), but basically you apply some gentle turning force while using a probe to lift each tumbler into the 'unlocked' position. The only real trick is applying (and holding) just enough force that you can still move the tumblers, but they won't move back to their 'locked' position.

But I have no idea if any of this would apply to your GT6 or not.

Turns out that was it. My husband bought some picking tools, and man they shipped out fast!!! Also it helps that hes been doing the exact same thing for hours playing the new Fallout game (PS3)
