Re chrome original bumpers or buy new?

Thirty years ago I bought new reproduction bumpers. They still look like new. My car had no bumpers when purchased, so I had no option.
 
The new repro bumpers are junk . Thin flexible, cheap chrome . Rechrome is expensive but well worth the expense .JMHO

I heard a unconfirmed rumor that the poor quality reproduction problems have been taken care of and that there's good quality new ones, but, unconfirmed.
 
Definately replate provided your bumpers are in good physical shape. Most platers can not reshape them correctly
 
Had original and a repop. No comparison; thinner by far, plating thin. Perhaps things have changed?

That all depends on your platers , where I took mine the reshaped them, took out the dents ,filled the holes, cant tell unless you look on the inside ..

My car have TWO front bumpers (the rear are a front, adapted)so i haven't other choice. the difference with my brighted FRONT original (in acceptable conditions) are very evident.
I have my old and the two over rides to offer for 20 usd + S&H
Probably the story of thinner bumper are referred to the past supplier, actually the differenceare very strictly to the original
