"Re-beading"

Original beading had a flange about 1/2" long that went between the various body panels. Does the beading available from Moss or VB have the same flange? Can the beading be installed without separating the body panels and putting the back together again?

the beading was spot welded between the panels when they were assembled. To replace the beading Ive seen people cut/grint the old ones off then remove the flange from the new and braze it on. i've never done this myself but read about it.

Normally the beading does come with the 1/2" flange.

Because I didn't need to split the rear wings from the shroud, I cut the flange off and soldered (with a blowlamp) the bead in place - this suggestion comes from the Haynes/Lindsay Porter restoration guide.
After 7 years (when I sold the car) they had not come loose, so it seems like a reasonable way to do it.
