Rattling stainless muffler

Recently purchased and installed a new ss exhaust system from Moss. Sounded great but just took it for a 20 mile run and when I got back it was rattling loudly. Put it up running on a lift to find what I left loose and the muffler is rattling internally. Sounds like the baffle disconnected. Anyone have this experience with a new ss system?

Yep
The case expands due to heat and they rattle.
I placed SS Hose clamps at three locations around the case it stopped the rattle

Thanks for the info. What were the rough locations for the hose clamps that worked for you? Our cars have plenty of noises to track down, didn't expect new parts would add to the challenge.

Now if you had bought a good exhaust like a Stebroe etc you wouldn't be chasing rattles .

I bought a Bell stainless unit...no rattles. very solid, heavy duty clamps amd everything "fits" together. Got a great price om the whole BJ8 system and paid only about $50 for shipping which added big savings.

FWIW I had a baffle come loose in mine and I simply went back to a mild steel muffler. I was never a big fan of the way the stainless sounded. I understand if you let them "season" the sound mellows, but between the baffle and the sound resonance I surrendered.

I went to a mild steel muffler on my BT7 to get the mellow sound. Turns out the mild steel muffler I got is made from a lighter gauge steel than the old ones and just as "raspy" as the stainless steel mufflers. Annoying!

Update to my blog. Seems Moss watches the blog. As requested I emailed Moss and they are sending a replacement ss muffler today. Excellent customer service and as I said in the original post I do like the sound and the installation was easy.
This BJ7 has been in my family since new and we have always sourced Moss for parts.
