I find reading through all these threads very refreshing. My little problem is rather lame in comparison to others.

My problem is more of annoyance more than anything else. I suspect that my 74 B was was rebuild sometime in the past. The problems is when I start the car up, a loud rattle comes from the hood/bonnet. If you press down slightly, it stops, though you can still feel the "rattling". The hood/bonnet does not have a prop either. Also, the gaps between the hood and top of the front fender are not quite even either side. I would say that the difference is about 1/8 to a 1/4"

It seems to latch down ok..

Any suggestions?
 
In addition to the two rubber "blocks" along each side, there should be a couple of rubber "bumpers" on the topside of the grill in contact with the underside of the hood front lip. If those aren't there it can move around quite a bit.

the side-to-side issue is a combination of hinge adjustment and front latch positioning. You *should* be able to average out the gaps by finessing the two hinge adjustments and the latch.
 
Are you sure it is the bonnet??? I sometimes get a slight rattle from the exhaust pipe touching the underside at idle or deacceleration?
 
Yes I am sure its the bonnet. I took a good look over the weekend and mine does not have to two little little bumpers which are sandwiched between the bonnet and top of the grill
