rattle in the Mustang

A couple of weeks ago I noticed what I thought was a rattle in the exhaust of one of my Mustang Gts. My wife never has a problem with hers..its a bone stock 94 5.0 vert with an automatic. Mine is a 94 coupe, highly modified..5.0 built to the hilt. Apparently the cat. on the drivers side has come apart and thrown a few chunks aft, causing a very loaud rattle. Took it to a muffler shop just out of town on friday and as I made the turn to his shop, I hit a bump and the rattle was gone. 45 minutes on the rack whacking the exhaust with rubber hammers...zip. Drove it back to the shop...about four miles...and as I made the gate to my shop...it came back..then was gone, and now it sounds like its restricted. Stupid exhaust is all one chunk so entire systems has to be let down, cats get whacked and hopefully I'll be able to shake out the junk....and I was about to advertise it on E-Bay..never fails.

Yahoo....pulled the entire system down and sure enough, the right cat was plugged. The material had rotated 90 degrees and was causing a severe restriction. Now I have to empty cats and will re-install the whole mess tomorrow. Sigh of relief.
