Rattle in the boot

I know it probably sounds silly to chase rattles in a Bugeye, but this one is very repeatable.

It sounds like there is a loose piece of metal in the boot - like a nut or washer. Sometimes I hear it rattle, sometimes I hear it slide or roll when I go around a corner, but I can't find it. At this point I think it is in the gas tank.

Before I dive into the gas tank, does it have a flexible pick-up tube with a metal end that might be making this noise?

Thanks,

David

You don't think it might be Junk in the Trunk or Loot in the Boot.......

Sorry, I couldn't resist........

exhaust, jacks, even round object in trunk, not the gas tank. all one piece..........unless someone (kid) drop something in it when you were not looking....now that would be away to pay back

I've had a weird clunk in the boot since last summer. Finally decided to see what had been left back there ... spare half shaft that I packed for my trip to Wisconsin.

I took the gas tank off my Midget to repair a leak and found about 10 rocks in it. I'm wondering if that was the noise I was hearing in the back last summer.

In my first Bugeye I heard a rattling/rolling sound coming from the fuel tank. What I found inside was two small stones and 3" long spring. Locking gas cap ever since then...

Had the Midget out for a drive yesterday and the clunk in the rear is gone. Must have been the rocks in the gas tank.
