You remember climbing these 30-foot, super thick ropes in school! (With nothing but a 2-inch thick mat to save you if you fell).

I remember the ropes and trying to climb them. I just don't remember getting near the top. These days you get a trophy just for standing in line.

I could climb to the top, but then I didn't weigh much.

I was a 98 lb weakling, but I could grab two ropes, climb to the top and skin the cat.
One of my classmates showed me how to do that.
He was built like a ......., and I'm glad he was a nice guy.

During college I was half way up the rope and I looked down and saw my coach light a match. He told me if I didnโ€™t make it to the top he was going to light the rope :D
I miss him, college would not have been the same experience without him.

When I was a kid we didn't have ropes in the area used for the gym, since it was also the high school basketball court. We did at one end have hand grips that ran up to the ceiling, bout 20 feet since it was a two story open space. Supposed to pull yourself up without using your feet on any of the grips, then work back down.

Luxury! we used ta dream of having vines

We had to climb live electrical wires in the rain.....

We were so poor we couldn't afford air. Had to breathe pure nitrogen - couldn't afford the oxygen. Walked uphill through the snow to school, then walked uphill through the heat to get back home.

A rough time it was!

You had hills? I didn't think they were invented until after
you graduated.

And I'm sure that history was a breeze for you too.
