Ragosine Listate?

I'm looking at the Bentley manual, about reinstalling the wipers. It says to lubricate the flexible "rack" with Ragosine Listate. Any interpretations or suggestions?

I guess I could Google the term, and see, but you folks can out-google google, I'm sure...

Hayfever:

I saw that Retinax info also. I may check that out. However, I have white lithium grease in a spray can. The stuff that was on the rack when I took it out seemed so much "thicker" than the lithium grease I've got.
Thanks for the info! I guess if I get the wheelboxes in there right, I can always pull the rack out and re-grease if it's hard to move when I get this stuff put back on.

You can nuy white lithium in a tube or tub also. The aresol stuff is real thin. don't use the spray stuff here

Latest invention. Eat pasta with heavy garlic taste, but get rid of the aftertaste. Ragu Listerine

I've used Lubriplate for this and many others applications, specifically the "Marine Lube 'A'" which is waterproof. Big 12" tube will last a very long time.

Banjo:

Thanks for clearing that up. That makes sense that it's "thinner" in some way to allow for aerosol...

I'll grab some to have on hand...

[/ QUOTE ]Heck, I've got a can (maybe 1 qt.) of Lubriplate that I bought when I was about 16 and just learning to work on my and my dad's Heralds. I'm now 52, and that can still is about one-third full, despite my having done a lot of brake jobs and doorlatch lubrications over the years. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yep, sure does last a long time.

The spay lithium is thin when you spray it, but it thickens quickly. I suspect it is mixed with a solvent to thin it for spraying. The solvent evaporates quickly leaving the grease. When the grease is thinned it should penetrate into some of the small spaces.
There is an old formula for coating the springs on a boat trailer. Mix STP with mineral spirits. The mineral spirits thinned the STP enough that when you painted the mix on with a bruch the STP was carried into the small space between the leaves. As the mineral spirits evaporated the STP was left to lube and rustproof.
Another product that is good for lube and rustproofing is LPS #3. In the aerosal (SP?) form it comes out thin but thickens after a few minutes. It's a little expensive and hard to find, but it's good stuff.
