Radius arms - now what?

Got the rubber part of the bushes out no problem, sneezed in their general direction and they just fell out. Not exactly, but close. Do I need to remove the inner metal band that you can see in the picture or is that supposed to remain?

So now what, just wire brush the heck of them until they are clean and the paint them with POR15? (oven for powder coating isn't wired in yet)

When you get the new bushings you will see exactly what you need to remove. The outside ring that is welded must stay in place but the inside ring will have to be removed. Use a hacksaw to saw down to the outer ring and then you can pry the inner piece free. I used some antisieze compound on the new bushing to act as a lube. I pressed the new bushing into place by squeezing it in with my vise. You might have to use a hammer and block of hardwood to get it all the way into position.

I cheated, I took em to the machine shop and had the old ones out and new in. No prob at all, five bucks.

That is my plan too!

I've got <span style="font-weight: bold">plenty</span> of other stuff to worry about and burn time on.
 
I used a small hack saw to carefully cut through through metal band lengthwise. Then forced it out with a screw driver. I cleaned the arms with a paint removing wheel from HD attached to a drill. Then several coats of Rustoleum Automotive Primer and Rustoleum Glossy Black.
 
A little anti-seize on the ID of the radius arm will help to push the new bushings into the arms. Did the vise & socket approach to push em' in. Used my jig saw to carefully cut the metal band and had to soak them for quite awhile. Mine were rusted pretty solid to the radius arm. When seating the bushing, make sure you get them centered in the radius arm.
