I purchased a 1959 MGA that was originally restored in the late 80's and it has a Radiomobile radio in it. It may have at one point been wired but it is not now so I don't know if it works. Is this an original radio that was available? Is it worth restoring? Will it pick up any stations in the US even if I do get it working? I have a photo but can't figure out how to post it.

According to my mid-fifties large desktop Braun Hi-Fi from Germany the Mittel (middle) band runs from approx 500-1600 kHz, which matches our AM band fairly closely.
Oddly the UKW (FM) band on this radio only runs from 88-101 mHz.

Sorry I didn't clarify my self, as I meant was Radiomobile was a factory radio from the UK. I believe radiomobile started in 1949. A tube type was recently found in a barn find 52 MGTD.
These early RM radios are not that great on reception in the US, something to do with the frequency. Not sure. PJ

We really need to see a picture to tell you much.
If it's from the 50s, it's likely that it is all vacuum tubes. Early 60s might be like Paul's first picture, which is a mix of tubes and solid-state devices. From the mid 60s on, it's likely to be all solid state.
If you're insistent on originality, you might consider a tube radio; otherwise, I'd avoid them. Just more trouble than they're worth.
