Was thinking about installing a radio in my 57 100-6. Curious what options are out there and were to install speakers and radio unit? Nothing to complicated, just a simple radio. cheers, Zane

Hi Zane, if it was me,I'd reverse polarity& use what radio I liked. On my '60 I think I mounted the radio to the heater box& hid speakers under dash.Cover comes off heater box w/spring clips I think, been awhile.cheers Genos2

Genos2, how do I reverse polarity the car? Any photos of your install? Love to see a picture. Thanks, Zane

Does the 100-6 have a parcel shelf like the 4 cylinder cars on the passenger side, I mounted my radio under the parcel shelf using existing holes in the shelf I attached mounting brakcets to. Then simply routed speaker wire under the carpet to the back where I put speakers behind the seats, the really had nowhere to go back there and weren't noticeable, so all an easy install and very reversible, didn't even drill a single hole.

Isolated a fender mirror and used it as the antenna.

As far as the ground conversion, is pretty simple, unless you have a polarity sensitive fuel pump. there are instructions all over the net and on this forum that should come up with a search. Pretty much the same process for all british cars of the era, all have the same lucas electrics.

Hello Zane,

If you choose to install a modern radio, you'll have a lot of choices for style and size. Some units can go in the boot and have a small remote unit up at the dash.

Here's a link to Vintage Car Radio, that has a unit you intall in the boot and it can be wired for a postive car.

As far as speakers, simplest would be small enclosed box speakers. You could install them under the dash. Check you local car install center. They usual know what's available.

If you go modern negative, Here's a link to Hendrix Wire Wheel showing how to reverse your positive car to negative ground.

Good luck,
Roger
