What is used to reseal the drain valve to the radiator. I used teflon pipe tape but it is seeping at the joint. I've ordered a new ring from Moss but do I need any other sealer on the threads?

Hi TH,

I had so many problems with the drain valve. Went through 3 of Moss's reproductions. I had to give in and go with a conventional valve. Then the leaking from the treads. The hard red gasket didn't help much either. I too tried plumbers tape. What finally worked was Hylomar.

As always, good luck TH.

You might try Loctite thread sealer.

I substituted a copper sealing ring for the red fibre washer. No leaks from either threads or (original) drain valve.

I absolutely agree with Randy, The red fiber washers should go directly into the trash can. Get a copper washer and you should have no more problems.
