Radiator refurb

I've had my BE radiator cleaned and checked by the local shop and I'm in the process of doing the cosmetic restoration. As I've sanded down thru the paint the last color I get to before bare metal is the AH engine green. It's in every crack and crevice and I always thought they were originally a satin black. Thoughts?

Rut,

I did not find any green paint on mine, but I did find this plaque. I almost sanded it off by mistake.

David, mine has the smaller brass plaque with the part/serial number. I'm painting it satin black to match the pictures in Horler, just thought it interesting.
Thanks, Rut
