Hi All. Well yes its me again with more problems. When I put pressure on the rad hose fluid leaks from the over flow. It also happens when I start the engine and pressure bulids up in system. I have put on a new radiator cap and still have same problem. ( the rad cap is rated at 7lbs. )Has anyone got any ideas. Regards John. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

John, Check the following; Bad thermostat, Defective water pump,Fan belt slipping, Plugged tubes in the radiator and a silted up cooling system. The radiator and silted up engine block cleaning will require specialists help.But try replacing the thermostat first they are inexpensive and check the pump for leaks as well as its ability to move the water through the engine.-FWIW- Cheers--Keoke.
Keoke. Thank you for reply. I have just rebuilt this engine and has new thermostat, radiator has been cleaned and system was given a good cleaning. My problem is even if I squeze the top radiator hose fluid leaks from the over flow even when engine is cold. Regards John.
Do you have the proper radiator cap, one that is deep enough that it seats. My Healey takes a cap that is about a half inch longer than most standard caps. When I bought the proper pressure replacement, I kept having overflow problems until I realized I needed a longer (usually special order at auto parts stores) cap.

If your MG takes the same cap as the Healey, & I believe that it does, the NAPA / Balkamp # 703-1411, 1.530" diameter X 1.2" long radiator cap works well. It also has a top seal to work with a coolant recovery system. If you need the top seal, check the cap before you buy. Napa stocked two different caps under the same part number, but the older ones did not have the top seal.
