I noticed that Moss has the Texas Kooler 6 blade fan for sale. I have the 6 blade British Car Specialists flex fan on my car and notice it is noisy. Does anyone have experience using the Texas fan as far as equal cooling with less noise? Obviously I have time before it will be needed as I had to shovel 6" of global warming off my driveway yesterday! Thanks and have a good day!

I recently swapped my BCS flex fan for the Texas Kooler. After a year of using the flex fan, I finally decided I did not like the howling at moderate to high RPMs. The Texas Kooler is very quiet, not a howler, and moves enough air to keep the engine cool at slow vehicle speeds and at idle. I now hear more engine/exhaust tones than fan noise. It doesn't look original, but does a great job. Driving down the freeway without the howl is great!

I've had my Texas Kooler for several years and it is quiet and moves the air through the radiator.

John:

I installed a Texas Kooler on my 62 BT7 in the early 1990's and have basically forgotten about it. It seems to do a great job in Ohio summers. I recall purchasing it from the North Texas Austin-Healey Club.

The North Texas AHC no longer sells the Texas Kooler, but have licensed it to Moss Motors.

The club bought the rights to the fan design and manufacturing and for many years was the sole source for the fan. Yes, the club makes a minimal few bucks from each sale, BUT in exchange, the Texas Kooler is still available.

To find out more and how to buy one, there is a link at the bottom of the NTAHC home page at www.ntahc.org.

I have one on my V8 Healey and it works VERY well.

John;
I had a mishap with my fan and radiator recently, and have purchased the cooler from moss.
I think the switch for you will be a good one.
