TR4/4A Radiator Fan Shround

Hi ya,

I am curious if any one has ever attempted fabricating a fan shroud for the TR4A running the original engine fan? Or, even found a universal aftermarket unit which works? Something like this:

I am aware of the electric fan options but, I'd like to stay with the original fan if possible. I have the radiator duct installed which is very effective when the car is rolling >20mph. I just think a fan shroud would make a huge difference when idling in bumper-to-bumper summer traffic.

Well, I for one would lose some sleep putting anything on the fan side of the radiator. I like the electric fan option. I've never overheated since installation. I also like my original fan, but feel somehow mentally challenged because I find no tell-tale signs of which way it goes. For all I know, it's backwards, but it's the same as my other car, so I guess that's good enough. I've not been able to find helpful pictures either. My electric fan is a pusher, forward side of the radiator.

For what it is worth, I'd verify that all components in the cooling system are correct and functioning correctly. Our TR4A is stock with no auxiliary cooling equipment and I have no overheating problem. As can be seen my personal information, I'm in central California with very warm summers.

Hi guys, Thanks for the good thoughts. I should clarify. I've not had any cooling problems. I was just curious more than anything. I've owned my TR4A 22 years, keep the cooling system in good nick and flush it every other year. In all those years I've never had it overheat and maybe twice on the hottest day of the year (90*+) while stuck in traffic for more than 5 mins has my gauge crept up. And, honestly, I more recently discovered if I bring the RPMs up to ~1500 by pulling the choke slightly, the higher fan and waterpump speed keep temps in control.

Sometime I am at the risk of overthinking things in these dark winter months...
