I am seriously considering purchasing a MKII. One of the modifications I would like to make is to add a power assisted steering rack. Is there a preferred rack from a later model Jag for this conversion. Are there any helpful threads or tips on this conversion (mounting templates and etc.). How difficult is it to get the proper alignment to avoid bumpsteer problems? Thanks very much and happy holidays!

Check with some of the sponsors of this site. I know XKs Unlimited and Welch Enterprises sell kits for the MK11 cost about $2K.

I belong to the Austin Healey club in Louisville and am trying to get the club to purchase an autocross car (probably 1275 Sprite)for SCCA racing. What's the best source for info on operating/maintainence expenses?

Avoiding bump steer and poor geometry on lock is a problem that I'm not sure any of the rack and pinion set ups have resolved. I believe you can now get electrical power steering pumps for Mk2's so avoiding the complexity of fitting more drive belts and pulleys.
