I'm just curious, not being a Healey owner, did any of the Big Healey's have rack and pinion steering?

Not to my knowledge.
R & P steering was largely adopted to make it easier to get the steering parts all in the correct locations. Also cheaper to make than any other type.

I believe it was experimented with on the Healey Ferrari chassis in 1957 or 1958. One of Geoff's books mentions it. I guess the benefits were not worth the bother. The V8 Healey group does have some plans on how to add it to a 100 on their web site. Not sure about a 6 cylinder car. An MGB can be made to work but I don't know about the turning circle adequacy.
 
I just purchased a 3000 Mk II and am interested in a rack & pinion conversion - does anyone know of any existing conversions?
