I want to install round racing number stickers on my MGB, on the doors and maybe the trunk and hood.

What is the standard size?
 
I think SCCA says the numbers have to be at least 8"....so, whatever size numbers are required, that'll determine the size of the circle.
 
Has anyone investigated magnetic numbers? I'd like to be able to add and remove them at will, espcially as the cops in my area already pull me over frequently enough for no reason. :smile:

That's why I'll never own a red Porsche again. One night in Scottsdale, AZ I got pulled over 5 times for no reason. I'd only driven 10 miles in the city, so that's once every 2 miles. Made for a long trip each way.

They are reffered to by racers as "meatballs" and having them made and and put on magnetic material is a good way to do it, because you can remove them if you want to easy enough. There's not a standard size per say, as Tony mentioned certain groups have rules on number sizes.

Re Cops and red cars. I used to own a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and even in a sedate silver color I still got pulled over frequently, no tickets just BS stuff like "I observed you weaving in your lane", "you chirped your tires when you left the light" (eventhough it's AWD and hard to chirp tires).

I'm sure you can find the number size requirements, but that 8" figure sounds right. Class numbers are 4" I think. I always order the biggest numbers that will fit on my door in a contrasting color. Those women in timing and scoring can get pretty spiteful if they can't read your numbers.
