R&S Auction - What a mess...

We had the same thing happen here recently at an air show....killed several people to include a little kid.

"A lot of the collectors' cars have spent years in garages and have barely seen any kind of weather, let alone a fierce storm."
Too bad they weren't designed to ever be out in the weather! now they're all ruined!
Sorry... I know what they ment. But I think that sometimes people forget that they're still cars, not paper models, or books or paintings..... They were built to withstand the weather.
I hope everyone is all right.

They were insured!

Including 'Act of God'?

One can only hope so.

Either way, our bills will <span style="text-decoration: underline">very</span> likely be going up next year. This event is to Hagerty (<span style="font-style: italic">et al</span>) antique insurance as Katrina was to State Farm (<span style="font-style: italic">et al</span>) homeowner's insurance.

I suspect that insurance companies will start to take a closer look at large events... Here in Alberta this past summer we had a major wind storm hit a large music festival square on, it collapsed the main stage and one person was killed... The wind storm was in advance of a tornado watch and apparently it was hard to predict where exactly it would head so the organizers had very little time to evacuate...

It's very sad when stuff like this happens, at least cars can be repaired, people can't...

The perfect storm. Whadda shame.

Some of those cars are now permanently devalued. Really sad. That no lives were lost is a big bonus, but OTTH cars don't heal themselves.

How to make an instant classic car junkyard:
step one. Set up a big tent......

A lot of damage and it is all in places on a car you don’t normally see it. That makes it sort of odd to see those pictures. Holes punched in odd places.Crushed hoods. Antennas jammed through fiberglass bodies sort of weird to see.

With all that fabric area, like a sail boat, it only takes the failure of one mast stay or tent pole stay to bring the whole thing down.

If you are racing the car, you have to expect the chance of damage. But a car show?

There's a couple damamged, permanently devalued cars in that tent that I'll take off their hands!

I didn't see anything that's not repairable - & some of it was just minor stuff....but, if they want to sell it ast the "Devalued" price, I'm interested! Most of them were 'over-restored' anyway!

I'll take a C2 Corvette with a cracked windshield & chipped paint anyday!

I'm distressed to note that <span style="font-style: italic">The Little Red Wagon</span> was there, and appears to have been damaged. Hopefully not too bad.
