I just try to stay on top of all the really important news in eh world - besides. it's too danged cold to work on the Jag!

Gumby was my son's favorite cartoon. I'll have to call him up. I'm sure he will be devastated by the news.

"It's Gumby, dammit"

Ah yes Gumby - watched it myself. And his sidekick Pokey too.

...you know, I used to support public radio, our DSO and later, our public radio here in Asheville, but I can't listen to it beyond the classical music any longer. It raises my blood pressure anymore. (I want my money back, too, by the way)

So long, Art. Thanks for a lot of fun.

Funny thing is, Clokey didn't mean to get into kids' shows. He made his first animated short as a demo of his camera skills. His intent was to show off what he could do and hopefully land a job in regular movie productions.

He managed to get it into the hands of a big-time movie producer who came back and said he loved it.

At that point Clokey figured he was set, major productions, feature films, Hollywood stars and all that. The producer told him no, we need more of those animated pieces!

He was sort of bummed at first but ended up loving it.

That would be "Gumbasia". It's very old-school-you can see cutting marks on the clay-but it's still quite fun to watch.
