TR2/3/3A Quick TR3 Question .Trans cover color

What color was the transmission cover for 1956-57 TR3? Body color, black, primer?

Yep mine was body color, you know though, it will be covered by carpeting and I'm thinking of just painting mine black once its all cleaned up and sand blasted.

My '56...body color as was the whole interior and bodyshell...

Body color it is, thanks guys. As to how it's going, I was getting a bit discouraged with the body work so I switched over to the engine and transmission. It's getting to hot for body work and I've been getting fed up with it. Boy what a job it was getting the head off the engine. I'm glad I had been soaking it for the last year or so. I did get it off with rope and wood wedges. But I still have three studs that will not come out. I will let them soak some more. Thanks again

I'm sure your patience will be rewarded...I'm always rushing things to a less than harmonious conclusion.
Has the engine been rebuilt before of together for 50 plus years?

I'm not sure but I believe it may be original. The reason I think so is that it had 1/2" of sludge in the bottom of the pan. No hard pieces though, just black and silver. I'm concerned about the corrosion inside the water jackets. It looks like it was parked without much antfreeze in the block and it just slowly dried out. I hope all that will be removed when I have the block boiled out. I have not removed the crank or pistons yet, but all else looks good.
