Quick Question chopped 31 Ford

I've been storing a custom 31 Ford street rod for a buddy this winter . Went out to turn her over and get things movin and the battery is on last leg. The battery is buried under the floor pan and I can be just plain lazy at times.
Can I turn on the key and jump start from the starter solenoid, (one piece Buick type) and not harm his battery?

Thanx

Jeff,
I got to thinkin about it, and if I disconnect the + lead from the solonoid post it should probably work fine.
Thanks for the reply

Mike
