I need to pick up a bonnet today. Anyone ever fit a bonnet in an MGB GT and be able to close the hatch? It looks like it will fit but I don't have one off a car to test before I go.
Nice! Thank you! It's an aluminum hood so I need to be careful. Looks like there's still room to drive the car, too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
Well you can't have mine. It was tight getting it through the rear opening, but once in it fit even better in the Mark I car because there are no headrests. I set the rear edge of the bonnet on top of the seat back with a towel padding it.
Sure they are! You won't feel it in the seat of your pants but the aluminum can be lifted with one finger while the steel ones cannot be (easily). Tomorrow afternoon I'll weigh both and report back.
It's been awhile, Steve. I didn't remember the aluminum one being all that much lighter.
But, my memory's fading, and so are my brakes. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Steve is correct. You can open it with one finger and you can really feel it when you are moving them around. The Red Steel is still not bolted to the car so I can work on the engine easier which is why I could photo it. I still have the Original Green hood from the GT with a dent in the snout. Maybe the green one can be repaired.
Ok, here it is. I weighed myself on a bathroom-type scale, then again with each hood. They both had early-style hood prop, latch and safety catch installed. The aluminum hood had most of one piece (of two) of the original heat padding, so I'm subtracting one pound from its weight.
