TR4/4A Quick HELP - TR4 fender beading....

I am now applying the metal fender beading to my freshly painted TR4 (ordered the beading from Moss);

opinions aside; I am going to lightly sand the beading so that it has a "brushed" finish to it as opposed to the OEM/Moss smooth quasi-polished look.

does anyone know what this beading is made of? (as in, if I brush it - will it rust because a top protective layer has been thus removed?) If that is confirmed, I will have it clear coated after I brush it.

thanks for the help. -wp

I'm pretty sure it is stainless steel, but a quick call to the Moss tech support line should get you a definitive answer.

Sure appears to be stainless steel - though it does attract a magnet (some stainless does).

I doubt that it has any sort of protective coating that sanding would remove -- my TR4 has the original and my TR3A has a 30-year-old Moss repro -- I have never seen any sign of corrosion in either and their finish is, by now, far from perfect.

BTW - You say 'sand' but perhaps a Scotchbrite pad would provide a suitable abrasive for this?
