Yep, the pump doesn't care what angle it is at. Supply power and ground and it will run. The closer you have it to the tank does help but I have seen folks but them in the engine bay in front of the carbs. In fact I have seen one MG with two pumps. The guy had the second one in line just in case the first one quit.
