Questions before seeing insurance appraiser

What's the value of a restored to near perfect original Bugeye grille?
Where (if) can I find a good windshield replacement on the 78 Midget?
Is Triplex available somewhere?
Anything else I should think about before I see the appraiser?
The agent who has my case says when the appraiser sends the appraisal in she will issue a check and an email to me letting me know it happened.
No deductible.

Drag out your Moss catalog and show them new price....that's about all you can hope for, I believe. Don't believe Triplex is available anymore.

Kurt.

Seems it is for mgb...

Moss carries a reproduction TripleX windshield for the big Healey and the MGB folks that want originality, but I don't see a listing for the Midget. I have a Pilkington in my Healey, I can see through it without distortion, keeps the wind and bugs out of my face and gives the windshield wipers a place to rest ... which is about all you can expect from a windshield

Rick,
on your grill I would say the price of a used grill on eBay plus the cost of your restoration and shipping. Since you have the receipts I think they would accept that.
Good luck, Rut

If I have a perfect windshield in my shed (if...) and it's a Triplex old stock without any blemishes or delaminations, for the 70's Midgets, what would be it's value?
How might I go about (erm...) having insurance buy the one I already own as a replacement?
Is that immoral, shifty or otherwise a bad idea?

Better question then, what's the value of an old stock Triplex windshield for a 70's Midget in great condition?
I realize they are NLA.
I see new Triplex for MGB's is about $350.

No, it's not. Whether or not you already have a replacement is irrelevant, they owe you for another windshield ...PERIOD! If you use the one you have instead of buying another one it still cost you something to replace it. How is that possible you ask? You are out of the sale value of the replacement in the shed; it cost you however much that windshield would have sold for in the marketplace if you use it in your car.

If your windshield wasn't damaged and you put a broken one on that you had and said it occurred during the incident, then it would be shifty. The fact you have a replacement already with actual cash value is irrelevant. Your extra windshield was to save YOU money in case YOU broke it, it's not there to save the insurance company money on an insured loss... PERIOD!

Seems to me that the Adjuster is going to know the cost of a new windscreen and the cost of the labor to replace. That's what he'll give you (at best) and he'll politely suggest you take it or leave it. Spend the money on parts or popcorn, they don't care. Highly unlikely you're going to convince him to give you NOS money when a modern replacement is as good for 1/3rd the price.

Yeah, it's gonna be the lesser of the two. Ever read an employment ad looking for an adjuster?

"Candidate to conduct appraisals that provide a favorable outcome for the company"....and I've seen that exact wording more than once....

They aint there to do you any favors, don't do any for them...

My expectations have been adjusted, thanks guys.
