Question

YAY! Couldn't imagine it would've been anything Joe had missed.

I wanna ride in 'er! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Not to highjack a thread, but I would like to try and catch "racingenglishcars" eye! This video will also inspire Jacks toolin' around the 'hood, hehehe!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qcxu6A6qLM

The question is can "racingenglishcars" do a little bit of translation for us of the text in the video?

PS you have to hit the bottom right button to expand the picture and REALLY enjoy this!!

works fine now!

They so close, Miss Agatha is singing.

She is so happy on the road, just wants to get up and go.

Almost time for air cleaners and bonnet and such, a bit more playing and I am there.

Thanks again Doc. May have to pull that carb and take just a bit off the idle arm so it releaves the pressure on the butterfly. We will see.

Your 'tickover' now at 600~750? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Jack

You are out cruising around in Agatha with no seats, no bonnet and maybe relatives over?

That is love my friend, great news.

Patrick

BTW, I might side with luggage rack now, wifey has been great.

Mike,

Trouble is the words in the video are in Dutch (Nederlands), and racingEnglishcars seems to come from Copenhagen which is in Denmark, so his native language would be Danish (Dansk).

Zolder is a racing circuit in the Netherlands, where the Dutch F1 Grand Prix used to be held. I don't think it is held there these days, but I'm not absolutely sure. Evidently it has seen better days, judging by the video.

There is no reason why a Danish person should not learn Dutch, but don't assume it. Almost all people from the Scandinavian countries speak English, though - many of them speak it better than some of the English themselves.

Yes, I knew that, but I assumed some similarity (Which does exist!) and also thought he might enjoy the footage and may even have raced that track, and besides, look at all the LBCs running! Besides, it's OK, I think the more I watch it the more understanding I get (I love decoding!). He started in 40th place, moved up to 15th in nine laps! and wound up eleventh. Someone in the racing forum had wondered why he started so far back with so many ofthe slower cars, and from what I could decipher, he must have replaced the engine and had to start at the back, because there are a few referrences as to how well the new engine is running (7200 rpm, etc.) It is amazing how one can actually start understanding stuff with a little cross-referrencing (knowing a little French and German also helps!). Anyway, the film is a hoot!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

PS: Great news Jack /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif!! glad you got it sorted out without too much angst /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif! Doc. the diagnostician comes through again!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

Wonder what the chances are that (#21 blurry, not sure)white Lotus Cortina is my old car. It went to someplace Scandian to become a vintage racer... hmmm.

That would be cool, eh Doc.? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

VERY rough translation goes like this

Title:
a short but spectacular clip from the LB Racing DVD 2005. The first 2 laps from the race on the Zolder track, July 2, 2005

00:19 an now the mother of all starts

00:21 starting in 40th place with a new motor (not sure of the rest)

00:29 on the bridge? above me, Tjeerd (person) has given me "lights out" - he can't see my place

00:57 rest for a bit while I outrun these little cars

01:28 New motor - 1.5 km on it

01:49 big heart, ? goes still (I think refering to the Healey ahead)

02:20 now slow in - have to concentrate on accelerating out (corner)

02:51 After one lap, 15th place

02:57 The new motor works great 7200 rpm

03:49 here comes the Porsche, the Healey is faster

04:20 12th! (place)

04:35 11th! (place)

My father is even now spinning in his grave that my Dutch isn't better but that is the gist.

Cool video - thanks

JP

Wow, now that Healey really sings.

Yeah, Kim, it has some ~moments~ but the driver's input: "jukeing" and the total disregard for chassis/suspension damage has me wondering... I know, IkNoW!! "He who crosses the finish line FIRST!" and all that.

It points to FAT wallets.

Yeah, he was driving it like he just stole it. going off the track and into the dirt at places. Still a good show. I love to see british cars race. my favorite is to see some spridgets come out of a curve on three wheels.

Thanks for the translation JP /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif. That is pretty much what I thought was the gist of it! I just loved listening to him thrash that motor, it's music /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif. Doc., it IS racing, fat wallets and all! You don't race unless you have some disposable income!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/winner1.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
