How would one check to see if the vacumn advance is working on a dizy. Unit is out of the car.

suck on it

Umm OK,
You can suck on the unit to see if it moves, but this does not tell the whole story. These units require a particular amount of vacuum to advance a certain number of degrees. So you might want to test the unit once the car is running to see if it is giving you the right amount of advance when the engine is creating vacuum.

Sucking on it lets you know if its at least working...then you can go from there...if it doesn't move when you suck on it, you've got other issues to solve before putting it on the car.

Right Tony,
That's what I was trying to say. Sucking on it (to see if it moves) lets you know it is not totally shot, but once the car is running you will need to test it further to make sure it will work with your engine.

Right, I'm a poor sucker it seems, no action. Oh well, that comes apart as well.

Trevor - we're saying the same thing differently

Thank you again Jeff. Hmmm, my sister is in Michigan at Romeo and I lived while in the USAF for four years in Battle Creek.

I was down town at the Federal Center, The Air Force Cataloging and Standarzation Center. The only GI, was the Deputy dog. hehe.

Ah, so. I knew they had USAF types at Custer, and Kellogg was, and still is, home to a FANG unit. The first time I was there, they were flying F-89J's, then B-57's. Now they're herding A-10's.
Jeff

Jeff, is there a pic of your car someplace?

Jack, I think the only pic that was ever posted of my car, was the infamous low level snap roll in the Bugeye. I don't even know if it's still around. The Bugeye, is, but I don't know about the picture.
Jeff

Supose to have a bit of altitude before preforming that manuver I thought. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh, I had plenty of altitude, after the first impact with the ground. Kind of bounced about twenty feet, straight up!
But, it was still too low to punch out.
Jeff

Oh, what a preaty car, but then I am partial to Bugeyes.

Second pic link is up.
It's funny, but after I was back in the pit, waiting for the car to be brought back, this cute young thing walked up to me absolutely sobbing. She threw her arms around my neck and blubbered "It.... was..... such.... a ....pretty ....car."
Don't know who she was, and never saw her again!
Drat!

It's ok you were in shock, can't expect to get phone #s when in shock.
