Question: Steering wheel center.

*sigh*

Dear departed mum. Want it? 240DL Wagon. Tranny "slips" and I'm NOT inclined to do a thing with it.

nah... you keep it...

Think of it as a rolling shed.

Precisely. I'd throw in the 26" TV in the back seat as incentive.

Pass. I'm tryin' to cull th' herd, not maintain it.

doc,
Ok with the pm's we have been sending to each other.
Another question on the center piece is how does it operate the horn? Under the black center portion there is a small copper disc. When I jump the center to the edge, it operates the horn. I cannot figure out how the plastic center piece would play a role in its operation.

I'll have a look. BRB.

Here's all the bits:

Partial assembly, relation of bits:

The disc backplate has the center smaller brass disc insulated from the rest of the body (where the center contact from the column makes the connection), the brass "cup" on the plastic then grounds the smaller disc when depressed for contact.

HTH!

cripes!! I am missing the wire clip, the spring & the brass thimble thingymabob.
I'd bet Ihave a better chance at finding an upsidedwon airplane stamp!!!!

Yikes. That wire clip is probably the biggest problem, as it holds both the assembly together and the whole thing in the wheel hub... it's like fighting a bear trap to get it apart/together.

Oh, I had one of those stamps and pitched it, reject. Hehe.

I have come to find I am only missing the spring & the brass thimble piece.
Doc,
Is there any way for you to measure the spring & thimble pieces? I might be able to reproduce them at my shop.
Let me know.
