Push rod. You know the one on the clutch cylinder.

Moss says 2 1/2 inch for Bugeye 2 11/16 for 1275.

My prob is that my clutch pedel releases the clutch right at the top of the pedel travel. Think I have a new one in there 2 1/2 I have an other that is 2 11/16 I am going to try tomorrow if all goes well.

Did I see hear that there is an adjustable one that the racers use? Who does those?

What's on your car?

I was having a problem with my clutch. The stock rods are adjustable I believe because mine are. I cut mine according to apple hydraulics specs. I am using that later model bore in my master as well. My problem was that the clutch was engaging and I bled the ************** ********* out of it. If you know what I mean. Bought one of those compressor driven jobbies. Fantastic little deal, by the way /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif The problem that I was having was that I could slide her into first and reverse when the car was off, but not when it was running. I could start the car with the clutch engaged and it in first, but could not get it back into first once I shifted out. I extended the adjustment rod to the master and all is just about perfect. Still have some playing to do to get her just right.
 
Not the rods to the master cylinder the rod to the slave clutch cylinder.

I have done everything possible to the master rod and no joy.
 
Early Honda Accords used an adjustable pushrod, with clevis on their brake/clutch hydraulics at the pedals, that fits nicely on TR=6's. Might work well with yours. Maybe that can help you out.
 
jack, i can kind of relate to this to an extent. after recently rebuilding my tranny, i purchased a new pushrod and noticed it was shorter than my old one. the old one was longer by about a 1/4 inch or so and clearly had an extra tip added at one point. i checked the book and found out my new rod was the right measurement and matched what you stated for a 1275. i also read not to extend the rod. i obviously have to wait to see if there are problems, but if there is, i won't hesitate to put the old longer rod back in.
 
I'm not sure weather I have a longer one in there or the shorter, but I do have an extra long one.

Tomorrow I find out. I think I need a shorter one in any case as I need to be able to push the pedel in further before it releases the clutch.

Will report on what I find.
 
Jack, it sounds to me like you likely need the shorter one also. At least, logically, that should give you a longer pedal throw!
 
Jack, just shorten the end of the slave cylinder pushrod, by cutting it on end that goes into the slave and reshaping the ball end on the bench grinder. You can make them adjustable as they are the perfect size to run a 5/16 die over, but you have to carefull not to do this mod where the adjustment nut cam in contact with slave cylinder or it's dust boot. In your case of just needing it to be shorter, it easier to do the cut off and grind. In the past I also made the M/C pushrods adjustable as well, because adjustment on that end has much greater adjustment ratio, same deal, can run a 5/16" die over.
 
Yep, thanks guys. After I typed this and though about it going to sleep last evening I realised that shorter is what I need.

Appreciate the help. Sometimes a stupid little thing like this is hard to get the old brain around.

Hmm, the one that was installed is 2 3/8 long. But it is too long, it was a tight fit I mean real tight.

As I have two I am going to take some off of this and make it fit correctly I hope.

It is a new cylinder, the good one from Moss but just maybe it is a bit large on the piston length or maybe I have a later model fork or something.

Jack, Make it adjustable by putting a piece of threaded rod in there with a connector nut thingy in the middle. Adjust rod till all works properly and then cut a new rod to exactly the same length. Or simply leave the adjustable one in place.
 
yes, yes, yes. The one installed is now 2 1/4 inchs long, shrug. Fits just right. Peddle great, second gear even better, I wonder if it was not draging just a bit.

No clue as to why I need the short one, but as you know Miss Agatha is parts from all over maybe something is not quite bugeye like the clutch and pressure plate. heheh.
